How To Prep For Your Waxing Appointment For A Smoother Experience
The fear of waxing is real, one has to mentally prepare before getting themselves waxed. We will not disagree, waxing is a very unpleasant experience. The sensation of hot wax being applied to your skin, then the strip pulling out all the hair from the roots. But as painful as it may get, the aftermath is as beautiful. The result is soft and smooth skin like a baby. Our professionals make sure that your experience is as pleasant as it can get, you too can prep before the appointment to add to it. If you follow these tips, you will see the difference yourself in the next session.
Grow Your Hair Out
It is important to have the right hair length before coming for your waxing appointment. About a quarter to a half inch is an ideal length before getting waxed. This length will allow the wax to hold onto the hair better and fasten the process of it. When you have the correct length, it reduces the sensation of pain and minimizes breakage. If the length is not optimal, it will take many pulls to get clear and smooth skin. So, before booking make sure that the hair is grown properly.
Time It Right
Book an appointment when your skin is not sensitive. Yes, you heard it right. Our skin is more susceptible to pain near the menstrual cycle. The best time to get waxed is after your menstrual cycle ends, this is when your pain threshold is at the highest. Do not schedule the appointment during your period. It will be an uncomfortable experience for you. If your skin is sunburned, give it time to cool off otherwise the pain will be unbearable.
Exfoliate
We always advise our clients to exfoliate their skin with a body scrub before your appointment. You must scrub all the dead skin cells and hair follicles before your appointment. You will notice the difference yourself. Do it at least 2-3 days before your appointment. The chances of ingrown hair will be next to none if you exfoliate well.
Wear Breathable Clothes
On the day of your appointment, go casual in your dressing style. The more breathable clothes you wear, the lesser will be the chances of ingrown hair. It is a game changer to avoid wearing tight fitting clothes after waxing. If you forget to give the freshly waxed area a breather it may lead to rashes or redness.
Cleanse Beforehand
Take a shower before coming to your waxing appointment. Do not use anything that is oil-based. The oil will make it difficult for the wax to stick to the skin and defeat the purpose of waxing. After showering too, skip applying any lotion to the body. This will create a barrier between the skin and wax giving the technician a hard time to wax.
